Young Dumb Broke College Kid

Hi guys in today’s blog, I will be talking about my money spending since college started. Personally, I believe that I spend a lot of money. Due to the fact that I commute to school everyday, I eat out most of the time because I don’t want to go home back and forth just to eat then have to come back to school again because that wastes a lot more gas. Commuting back and forth from school every week costs me around $30 in gas because I live in Ceres and it is about a fifteen to twenty minutes drive everyday when I go to school, usually depending if there is traffic on the freeway. Now about food, I eat at school most days because it is stupid to go back home every time I get hungry which is always when I have my three hour gaps in between my classes. Eating at school is not cheap at all. They offer a wide variety of foods at school but they can be a little pricy. Personally, I always get the pasta from the cafeteria which costs me around $9 a plate. It is not a lot of food but I have to eat everyday or else I will get headaches for the rest of the day. I try to bring food from home everyday but my mom keeps forgetting to buy the snacks that I like. She always goes shopping with my little sister and all she gets are cookies, brownies, and candy. Personally, I like candy but I wouldn’t eat it at 8 o’clock in the morning because yeah it would give me energy but once that sugar energy runs out I would be more drained and I wouldn’t be able to focus for the rest of the day. At the moment, I do not have a job so it is very difficult for me to spend money because I do not have a primary source of income well except for my parents but I try to stay away from asking them for money because I spend a lot of money when I go to school just with food, and gas. My suggestion for my fellow classmates is that they save up their money because college can be really expensive especially if you currently do not have job like me. Also, try to bring food from home because it can save you a lot of money from eating out and it can also be much healthier than the food at school or any fast food around the University. Well, that’s it for tonight’s blog. See you guys again next Monday. I will catch ya’ll where the grass is greener.

  1. I can relate to this very much! I also live in Ceres so commuting during my breaks would be a waste of gas. I also get hungry so what I try to do is pack a lunch and snacks the night before and it really helped save me some money!
